Your Camino begins with the forests and waterfalls of the Karkloof, then winds through the historic charm of Curry’s Post and Nottingham Road. Across farmlands where blue cranes dance, into the rolling foothills of the Drakensberg, you’ll pass dairy farms and trout dams that tell the tale of Midlands life. History calls at Fort Nottingham, built in the 1800s, before you take on the climb to the summit of iNhlosane, the highest peak in the area with views that will leave you in awe. From there, the trail carries you into the magical Dargle forests and on to the wild beauty of the uMngeni Valley Reserve. Each day reveals something new — grasslands, rivers, mountains, indigenous forests, and always the warm Midlands hospitality.
But this walk is more than scenery. With time on your feet and moments alone, it becomes a journey inward — a chance to reflect, reset, and reconnect. This Camino is about getting back to nature and being on your feet to reconnect, reflect and regenerate. The accommodation is simple, sometimes on a sharing basis and with shared bathrooms. All food is provided and will be simple home cooking. You will be guided but not hosted. Transport will be provided where necessary but you are expected to carry your clothes and personal items throughout the walk, as on the Camino in Europe!
